The fabulous MJ of Wander Wonder Discover has given me the Versatile Blogger Award. Isn't she sweet? It's always an honor to get a compliment from one of my favorite bloggers, and MJ certainly belongs in that category! As with most blog awards, there are a few things that go along with accepting this one. I am supposed to:
- Link back to and thank the award giver. Got that one covered, eh?
- Share seven things about yourself.
- Choose seven bloggers to pass the award on to.
- Contact and congratulate the seven award winners.
Seven Things About Me
1. I have mentioned before that I've had something of a love affair with my bike. Despite the fact that I commuted, and even grocery shopped by bike for a couple of years, however, I didn't learn to ride one until age ten. Even then, I only rode for a couple of weeks before crashing at the bottom of a big hill and giving the practice up until a decade later.
2. According to my Great Grandfather, an ancestor of ours was a Shakespearean actor. He gave me a beautiful old copy of The Complete Works of William Shakespeare when I was a child and it was then that my love of literature was truly born.
3. Until I got my hands on the Montessori math materials, I struggled and struggled with math. I earned an A in every subject in college, except college algebra, which I failed three times before finally managing a B on my fourth go.
4. I cry in just about every movie I see because I tend to get deeply emotionally involved with the characters. This is also the reason that I can't ever remember who an actress or an actor is from film to film. I can't remember them as who they really are because I am too invested in the characters they play.
5. There was a time in my life (long, long ago!) when I would joke about how I wanted so many kids that my family would require a 15 passenger van. There was another time in my life when I decided I was actually quite happy being unmarried and childless and would be pleased to remain so for the rest of my life. These days, I look forward to the possibility of giving Annabelle a sibling, but I think that will complete our family nicely.
6. The town I grew up in had a population of 36, which means that my family made up 1/6 of the town. The nearest gas station was 30 miles away, and the nearest post office just a bit further than that.
7. I have a terrible habit of falling asleep in inappropriate places. I have drifted off in class, behind the wheel, during movies and board games, and even on a stool while working box office for very loud metal bands.
For some reason or another this was really hard! Phew.
Seven Versatile Bloggers
I'll just spread the love to seven of the lovely ladies whose words I have appreciated at some time in the recent past and they can choose to participate or pass as they will. I could make a much, much longer list, but I'm going with the first seven who come to mind, including some very recent finds. Do check out:
Thank you so much! That is 2 nominations for this award in a week! Yay! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI *love* getting emotionally invested in characters and I think forgetting which actor it is is a GOOD thing, to the benefit of not thinking of other characters while getting into a movie.
Melissa, you are a doll thank you so much!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful list!! I had to laugh at the last one! Kind of scary though!! And boy, you are from a small town!! And I'm with you on getting emotionally invested in characters. Forget about movies, I do that in commericials too!! Always wonderful to know you better Melissa!
ReplyDeleteAwww! Thank you for the award! <3 I love your list! #7 is quite scary!
ReplyDeleteThank you! :) I'd give you some bread if I could....
ReplyDeleteI've always struggled with math myself, partially (I think) because my mother always put in my head that as an artist, she could never get math. I weasled my way around taking any upper levels of it in high school and didn't really "get" it until I took Stats in college. Maybe I will relearn it when my children go to school.. :)
Really? Only 36 people? How did you even survive?!
ReplyDeleteThank you. I'm very flattered.
ReplyDeleteI'm another one who cries in movies. I cried at the end of 'Happy Feet'.
Thank you for the award.
