You may or may not have noticed that my "What's New Wednesday" posts have not necessarily been happening on Wednesdays. This is because my Monday posts are not necessarily happening on Mondays ... or Tuesdays for that matter. Busyness in the house has translated to a slow pace in this space, but it's mostly all very good, so I'm not complaining.
Annabelle is adding new words to her vocabulary daily, with the latest corresponding to her current obsession - drawing. Several times a day, she repeats "draw, draw, draw...!" until she is given a crayon. (I would leave the crayons out on her shelf were it not for the fact that she also loves to eat them.) Anywhere she sees a scrap of paper, she says it. "Draw?"
I love it when she says a new word for the first time, because her eyes light up and she gets all giggly-excited at the realization that she has communicated and been understood.
Annabelle is becoming more and more interested in doing what her dad and I are doing, so I have been inviting her to join me at tasks like washing dishes and baking far more than I did previously. Not only does she love it, but it makes our days at home so much more peaceful.
We seem to have fallen into a schedule again, finally, where a nap happens nearly every day and this has been a wonderful thing for the both of us. We're working on the nighttime sleep, routine, too. It was taking so long, and I was falling asleep beside her many nights as I nursed her to sleep, waking an hour or two later to do my thing before bed only to find that I was awake and alert at 3am. I'm giving nursing first, then putting to sleep without nursing a shot, so we'll see how that goes.
When I stop and really look at this girl, I am always amazed at how very big and capable she is. I'm hitting a wall as I try to put these feelings into words, because everything I can think of to say sounds so trite. In any case, life with the girl is good: very, very good.
What's happening in your family's life?
I know what you say about putting the feelings into words. It's just so overwhelming--in a good way--the amazement and the love you feel. It's like it surges through you and leaves you awestruck.
ReplyDeleteShe is getting so big! I am loving putting Julia's hair in pigtails, do you like doing that?
ReplyDeleteI think pigtails are adorable, but no matter what I do with Annabelle's hair it gets matted in the back while in her carseat and pigtails always come out. Perhaps it's the fact that she loves shaking her head from side to side? I just keep it down and carry a comb in my purse so I can comb it out when we get places, ha. :)
ReplyDeletean artist in the making :)
