| Enjoying our Mother's Day |
The daddy was deployed on my first Mother's Day and the babe was less than two months old, so it was just a quiet day at home that passed without fanfare. Today, then seemed like my first "real" Mother's Day and it left me feeling awfully thankful for my tiny family. I hope this post finds all of you feeling similarly blessed. Unfortunately I'm feeling rather lousy here at the end of the day, with my stomach seemingly at war against me, so I hope you'll forgive the lack of commentary on this short and sweet list! I know I read the usual amount this week, so I must have eased up on my link-saving.
Parenting-ish
- Safety and Security from the Attachment Parenting Blog. "It is how we raise our children, how we treat our children and foster secure attachments, how we model love and compassion to them everyday as they grow into adults that truly changes the world. And it is these very origins of empathy and compassion, when fostered, that mediate the symptoms and pathways of violence and hatred: poverty, injustice, and inequality"
- My Misconceptions About Co Sleeping at Offbeat Mama, Alexis points out the oft' forgotten point that you don't have to share a bed with your child to enjoy the benefits of cosleeping. Speaking of Offbeat Mama, Hunny shared a tutorial for making your own split pants - something popular with families who practice EC. We didn't need any in this climate, but it's good to know for the future!
Food
- Raw Vegan Brownies (Recipe) - I discovered this recipe while doing some dessert related googling the other day and I'm dying to try it. If you beat me to it, let me know what you think! Speaking of recipes, these Ancho Lentil Tacos from the Post Punk Kitchen were our Cinco de Mayo dinner and I was quite pleased! I never would have thought to try lentils in this form, but I'm suddenly inspired to transform them into more and more things!
- Why We Crave Junk Food -Another interesting one shared by my friend Shelley. This at the daily mail.
Misc.
- All Hail the Interrobang! (What the!?) - This short little post on Daily Writing Tips clued me in to the proper name for one of the internet's favorite punctuation marks. How did I not know this already!?
Did you read anything inspiring this week? Write something you're particularly proud of? I would love it if you shared your links! Please do tell me about your Mother's Day, too!
